OAKLAND - In this Caltrans News Flash, Caltrans shows the response to the Kern County State Route 58 mudslide that occurred on Oct. 15, 2015. Due to a 1,000-year storm event, more than 200 vehicles were caught up in a mudslide that was more than 1 1/2 miles long.
Caltrans maintenance employees, along with an appointed emergency contractor, were able to clear the highway, make repairs and reopen the highway in less than a week.
