CALTRANS ANNOUNCES 2004 EXCELLENCE IN TRANSPORTATION AWARDS
Sacramento, CA--March 5, 2004 –Acting Director, Tony Harris, has announced winning projects in the California Department of Transportation’s 18th Annual Excellence in Transportation Awards Program. Since 1986, the annual competition provides an opportunity to salute those dedicated to solving California’s transportation challenges.
“Transportation excellence and innovation, as showcased in these winning projects, not only enhances our highway traveling experience,” said Harris, “but improves the quality of life in our neighborhoods, communities and environment. ”
The competition attracted more than 100 entries from state and local government, design firms and contractors. Winners are selected by a panel representative of transportation, environmental, engineering, and community interests.
