Inquiry #1: According to the specification, specific equipment is required for the installation. The details of the equipment portion of the spec are based on a single contractors proprietary equipment. Will the State allow alternate proven HFS installation equipment as long as the end product/result is achieved?

Response #2:4/15/13: Section 39-1.30, High Friction Surface Treatment of the Special Provisions identifies the minimum equipment requirements and not a type of equipment. Any proposal not specifically identified in the contract documents will only be considered by the Engineer after contract award. Please bid per contract documents.

Response #2: 4/18/13: Submit the bid as per the 'Notice to Bidders' for this project. Caltrans is currently piloting electronic bidding on 7 projects, 03-3F3204 is not one of the pilot electronic bidding projects. Bids for this project must be submitted using the paper bid forms provided.
