The Associated Council of Engineering Companies of California (ACEC) and the California Department of Transportation have entered into a partnership to produce a mentor-protégé program for the architectural and engineering industry.  The key responsibility of the program is to structure the interaction between the mentors and their protégés so that the latter can eventually build their own relationships.  The goal of the program is to increase the number of companies that are able to successfully bid and complete public works projects in general and in particular the Caltrans transportation improvement projects. 

This program is consistent with the Governor’s order No S-11-06 to increase the participation of Small Business Enterprise (SBE) firms and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) in the procurement and contracting of public works projects.  As of June 2009, this program is in all 12 Districts of Caltrans.  For more information , contact a District Liaison in your area:
