ADA Department Policy

The California Department of Transportation (Department) makes every effort to ensure equal employment opportunities for employers and applicants, including those with a disability, by providing access opportunities to departmental programs, services, and activities. The Department considers the accessibility needs of customers with disabilities to enable participation in all departmental programs, services, and activities available to the public. The Department with its partners, identifies accessibility deficiencies and address those over which the Department has control.

Statewide ADA/Section 504 Disability Program Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and supervises the ADA/Section 504 Disability Compliance Program and serves as the departmental resource for related issues.
  • Monitors implementation of the ADA Program as established in the Department’s Equal Opportunity Plan and the ADA/Section 504 Disability Program Plan.
  • Is the “responsible individual” as required by Titles 28 and 49 Code of Federal Regulations and the Title II Technical Assistance Manual for complaints from employers and customers concerning access to services and facilities
  • Administers the ADA liaison program, which serves employees, managers and supervisors, and customers regarding accessibility and disability issues.
  • Refers informal and formal complaints to the Office of Equal Opportunity’s Intake Officer to begin the complaint process.
