Project Information
Project Description: This project will widen Interstate 205 (I-205) from a four-lane freeway to a six-lane freeway by constructing additional lanes in the median. The 11 mile project limits are from Hansen Road to Interstate 5 (I-5). The project also includes widening existing structures, construction of a median barrier, and re-striping I-5 prior to the northbound I-5/I-205 connector.
Purpose and Need: This project is needed to enhance capacity and alleviate current traffic congestion on I-205.
Construction Cost: $92 Million
Funding Status: Project was originally programmed for construction in Fiscal Year (FY) 2006/07. This schedule was accelerated by an AB3090 authorization which provided local funds for construction in FY 2005/06 by advancing $66,327 million in funds. As described in the AB3090 Agreement, the State will reimburse the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) in three equal payments in FY 2008/09, FY 2009/10 and FY 2010/11. SJCOG authorized the use of Measure K funds to facilitate the delivery of this very important transportation project. The City of Tracy has also contributed $350,000 for improvements at Coral Hollow Road.
