Nighttime Work at SR-67/Highland Valley Road Begins Sunday
Traffic Congestion is Expected

SAN DIEGO—Lane closures and one-way traffic control will take place on Highland Valley Road near the State Route 67 (SR-67) intersection Sunday and Monday from 7 p.m.-5 a.m., according to Caltrans. The closures are needed to install a new drainage system beneath the roadway as part of the SR-67 Dye Road/Highland Valley Road Improvement Project.

Tuesday through Thursday, crews will continue nighttime drainage installation on a portion of SR-67 just north of Highland Valley Road during the same time period. The work on SR-67 will also require lane closures and one-way traffic control.

The intersection traffic signals may be set to flash red during the nighttime work. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic. Motorists can expect slower moving traffic during the closures and are advised to allow additional travel time to reach their destinations.

The SR-67 Dye Road/Highland Valley Road Improvement Project will widen SR-67 at the intersection from one to two through lanes in each direction and include additional turn lanes on SR-67 to improve traffic flow.

Construction is expected to be completed in summer. More information about the SR-67 Dye Road/Highland Valley Road Improvement Project may be found at

Motorists are reminded to watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment in the project area. The work schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
